This Nakayama suita has enormous cutting power and speed. The complex surface has
elements of nashiji or pear skin dots and it is full of "su" voids. It is very smooth and fine and I
have actually honed a straight razor on the stone and shaved with it afterwards with total
comfort and closeness.

This Hon Suita is from the deepest strata of the mine is so hard that it requires some skill to
use it with just clear water. However with a slurry made up by using a diamond plate this
stone becomes tamed and is a very rewarding stone to lay a blade upon.

The skin or kawa on the back and sides just scream Nakayama. This is a tight stone with no
cracks and the grain is very even throughout. Nakayama suita stones are very rare, I have
bought over 400 stones in the past few years and have only been offered but a handfull in
these larger sizes
